National Council of Nonprofits Expands Its Work With Two New Hires and One Promotion

Washington, DC – The National Council of Nonprofits (Council of Nonprofits) announces the hiring of Vice President of Advancement Kimberly Otis and Policy Associate Jessica Mendieta, and the promotion of Amy Silver O’Leary to the new position of Director of Knowledge Sharing and Special Projects.

Kimberly OtisKimberly (Kim) Otis joins the organization as its first Vice President of Advancement. Kim has decades of experience in both staff and board leadership roles at nonprofits dedicated to improving lives across the country and around the world. Throughout her career, she has helped advance equity and economic opportunity, including restructuring a family foundation to center participatory grantmaking. Most recently, Kim oversaw development, communications, and advocacy at Women for Afghan Women.

Jessica MendietaJoining the team as Policy Associate is Jessica Mendieta. Her prior work includes time with the Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans, the New York City Mayor’s Office of Resiliency, and the New York City Department of Education. With a background in nonprofits and government, as well as data analysis and visualization, Jessica will add to the Council of Nonprofits’ work analyzing public policies and connecting nonprofits with resources to advance their advocacy efforts.

Amy Silver O'LearyThe Council of Nonprofits also announced the promotion of Amy Silver O’Leary to Director of Knowledge Sharing and Special Projects. O’Leary recently led the production and launch of the Nonprofit Impact Matters special report and microsite. She also spearheaded a collaboration with the Federal Reserve on a survey to detail the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on nonprofits and the people they serve.
